Gary McFadden has been arrested, 'NICE'
Hi Gene,
Just heard from the met police and Gary McFadden has been arrested, he is on bail until April. He isn’t the main guy though and was just someone they paid to use his identity.
It would be helpful if everyone who has been ripped off reported it to the police as this would build a better case for them.
Hi Gene,
Thanks for putting this site together. We had a narrow escape with Sundrivehire last year. We had planned a trip to France with another family and were looking at different companies. My friend found the Sundrivehire site and saw that the prices were far cheaper than other companies, so we decided to book with them.
I made a booking for two vehicles and everything seemed fine until I noticed that the model that they had given us only allowed for three passengers to travel (even though it slept six - we have three children). I called Sundrive hire, queried this and was told that there was an additional seatbelt in the vehicle and not to worry about it.
Still concerned, I checked the website of the manufacturers of the camper van and it definitely only allowed for four people to travel. I called them back and again queried this. I was told the same rubbish, so I asked to speak to the manager. I was transferred to another person, who immediately apologised for the mistake and upgraded us to a bigger vehicle for the same price. Surprised at how this was able to be done with out checking on the availability of the vehicle, I began to be very suspicious. I googled the company and couldn't find anything about them, good or bad, but noticed that the website had only been in existence for a few weeks, even though they had told me that the company was fifteen years old.
As I had already given my card details, I decided to cancel my credit card (after checking that they had not yet deducted anything). I then phone Sundrive hire and told them that I wanted to cancel, as I was unhappy with the way that they were conducting themselves. They agreed to cancel the booking.
A few weeks later, I received a call from someone at Sundrive Hire telling me that they had tried to process my payment but it hadn't gone through. I explained that i had already cancelled. the next day, they phoned our friends that we were travelling with and asked them for an alternative credit card, which they did not provide!.
I contacted trading standards and the police several times and they took all my details but didn't seem to do anything about it. The website was still up and I started to see entries in forums. I feel so sorry for all the people who have had their holidays spoilt and look forward to seeing what happens to those responsible.
Regards,
Tim
Cheers Tim, Helping let keep one eye on these Lowlifes, for the sake of decent people.....

Gary McFadden, the owner of Sundrive and Sundrivegroup.co.uk, who lives at an exclusive address at 3 Evelyn Gardens West London SW7 3BE says that fewer than 100 bookings were affected and that the cancellations were the result of sabotage on the eFestivals website forum, started by competitors jealous of his cheap rates, one of many lies. Mcfaddens lies.. McFadden said he intended to use third-party suppliers who pulled out after seeing the negative publicity, and refunds were delayed after HSBC closed down his merchant bank account amid the deluge of negative comments. “We are not a scam, we are a real company with plenty of satisfied customers. I can tell competitors that Sundrive is here to stay,” he said. You lying arse hole McFadden, you've ripped off hundreds if not thousands of people over the last few months and this web site is dediciated to you and your latests thefts, we will be watching along with your other victims. I booked one of your fictitious motor homes at the cost of £670.00 via my bank account 'not insured' for a first holiday with my five and seven year old boys. Oh yes I caught by this Mc scum person >> all the same format blaming Glastonbury. No answers to my querries > false number plate > false refund reciept > holiday plans ruined ( sound familiar?). After being devastated I got my refund though my criedit card provider but I am still the ferry cost out of pocket. I booked in April for a July holiday and spent days on the computer until I had to say enough is enough of this scum taking over my life. One dissapointing part was that I reported all this to Welsh police >> Shropshire police The Times newspaper my local newspaper the Sentinel and even my local police station who didn't even take my name !!! I had NO responce from any of them. Enough 4 now I wish everybody Luck and hope this Mc A-Hole can be brought to justice.GBA Cheers GBA... Hi
Thanks for getting back to me, I booked van in March for 4 days costing £348, paid by visa debit, van due to be delivered this Thursday morning but I won't hold my breath. I called them about a month ago as I had read about the Glastonbury cancellations. I have a message that was left on my answer machine, it said not to worry and that my booking was safe and there was no problem delivering van. I looked for website today to see how I would go about adding a driver and that's when I realised website no longer exists. I knew it was to good to be true. Jackie Hi got your email from a forum, i am due to have campervan delivered this thursday, just looked for their website but it is no longer, phone number not working either, can you advise me on how i might get my money back? have they ceased trading? i am so angry, another persons holiday ruined. Look forward to hearing from you . Eddie Hey Gene Dear Gene
I found your email address on the Trustpilot website regarding problems with Sundrive hire - I hope you don't mind me contacting you.
I have booked a motorhome with Sundrive hire for Sept & although they've taken payment I haven't received any details or a booking confirmation. I've tried to telephone them & they aren't taking calls. I've been overseas for the last 4 weeks & on returning i thought I would follow the booking up & am seeing a lot of negative talk on the web re the company. Do you have any information on them?
Regards JP
Cheers I too have a booking with them and by now I am sure you have the same information as do I. I wish I could give Sundrive Hire MINUS 5, as they are con men Carina McKenzie
I have the same problem with sundrivehire, i pay 616 pounds, and got nothing back! In April 2011 my family booked a Motorhome through Sundrive Hire and paid the full amount for the hire on our credit card. The Motorhome was scheduled to be delivered early June. In May a second full payment was taken from our credit card and we notified the company of this mistake straight away. They never return calls or emails, we eventually got hold of them and said they would refund this money on to our credit card.....it never happen.
Hundreds of people heading to the Glastonbury Festival next week have had their plans ruined and are owed thousands of pounds by an online campervan hire company. Customers attracted by cheap rental decided not to search official van hire sites such as thiose offered by VW's selection of vans The BBC Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox was nearly one of them when friends booked a van for her and her family with Sundrive Hire, a company claiming to offer vans at rates 40-50 per cent cheaper than the industry standard. However, before money was paid, her partner Ben Cyzer became suspicious. People who paid in full have received letters to say that their vans have been cancelled. Reasons given include an alleged internet hate campaign, including alleged threats to damage Sundrive’s vans at festivals. Cox said: “The deal sounded too good to be true, plus their instructions were so vague — ‘turn up, you can’t miss us’.” Several people have changed their credit card details after Sundrive passed the information to other companies without permission. Others have been charged multiple times for the same booking. Natalie Watkins, 27, a New Zealander working in London as a live-in carer, booked a campervan in April. The van cost £1,496, but in May the money was taken twice. “They said they would give us a refund for the overpayment. But no money was ever returned,” she said. On June 6 the van that was supposed to be delivered failed to materialise. After two days Sundrive agreed to arrange for a hire van with another rental company, before passing on her credit card details without her permission and asking the company to charge the full cost of the new vehicle. Ms Watkins is still owed nearly £3,000. The company, which is not registered with Companies House, claims to operate a fleet of branded vehicles from a site in Shropshire, but has no premises and operates from a “virtual office”, the contract for which has now been terminated. Sundrive’s internet site was set up in February, a few weeks before the Glastonbury ticket resale, yet it claims to have 15 years’ experience. The website was changed soon after it emerged that the pictures of vans had been lifted from the website of Abacus, another rental company. Gary McFadden, the owner of Sundrive, who lives at an exclusive address in Chelsea, West London, says that fewer than 100 bookings were affected and that the cancellations were the result of sabotage on the eFestivals website forum, started by competitors jealous of his cheap rates. Mr McFadden said he intended to use third-party suppliers who pulled out after seeing the negative publicity, and refunds were delayed after HSBC closed down his merchant bank account amid the deluge of negative comments. “We are not a scam, we are a real company with plenty of satisfied customers. I can tell competitors that Sundrive is here to stay,” he said. Complete bollocks mcfadden....................
